On June 4, 2026, the BioPhenom project, along with BIORING, BIOSAFIRE, DESIDERATA and SuperBark, will co-organise a workshop aimed at raising awareness and sharing views and experiences on data analysis, involving both researchers and data management professionals and practitioners.

Innovation is increasingly driven by the capacity to gather and manage data. They help to make decisions related to a complexity of actors, value chains, and economic, legal, sustainable and social requirements, while allowing to develop and adapt faster during research and innovation processes.
Data management techniques, including big data handling and AI algorithms, are increasingly seen as a competitive factor and a premium criterion in cooperative research projects. Since several years, a Data Management strategy is mandatory in all EU projects, going hand in hand with the Safe and Sustainable by Design framework. Despite these efforts, several barriers still hinder its efficient use and exploitation, including aspects such as:

  • Capacity to build relevant and FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) raw data sets;
  • Interest and resources of parties to share research data (e.g. including failure data) and build unbiased data sets;
  • Scoping of data analysis (e.g. experimental data, correlations, predictive models, etc.) and selection of appropriate methods and tools;
  • Sharing and using data and analytical results within and outside the consortium.

Who should attend?

Research and Industry experts, partners of European and national research projects, data providers and end users. This is an opportunity for exchange knowledge and experiences, identifying gaps, good practices, and learnings on the topic.

  • About BIORING: The project develops bio-based building blocks for novel high-performance UV-cured biocoatings with enhanced thermomechanical performance, providing a viable alternative to existing fossil-based ones for automotive, construction and furniture use cases.
  • About BIOSAFIRE: The project develops safe, sustainable flame-retardant materials using a science-based and socially responsible approach. It upscales and broadens available feedstocks to provide flame retardant in powder formats for five applications in naval, railway, household goods, and wood coatings sectors.
  • About DESIDERATA: The project develops safer and sustainable alternatives to substances of concern with flame retardant, plasticiser, and surfactant properties. It enhances interoperability, improving data sharing across the value chain, and promotes market uptake of sustainable alternatives fostering collaboration between industry, research, and society in the construction, 3D printing, industrial manufacturing, and injection molding sectors.
  • About SuperBark: The project explores components in softwood bark to develop new bio-based adhesives and coatings for a range of industrial applications. It improves the sustainability, health and safety profiles of adhesive and coating products compared to fossil-based solutions.
